Why is Spray Foam better than fiberglass blow in or batt insulation in my attic?
Fiberglass insulation (blow in or batt) allows hot attic air to leak into your house through the ceiling. This is called convection.
Spray Foam insulation is sprayed onto the inside of the roof plywood and seals the attic tight not allowing the hot air to enter or build up in the attic space. This prevents the hot air from leaking in through the ceiling or around lights in the ceiling. Also, your A/C ductwork is not exposed to hot attic air and condensation problems.

How does Spray foam affect my Air Conditioner?
With Spray Foam, your A/C ductwork(typical duct R-value = 6) is not exposed to hot attic air and condensation, also the house is sealed tight not allowing hot air to enter, (hot air can blow through typical fiberglass insulation) You can reduce the size of your A/C or even the number of A/C units in larger homes. What you save with fewer or smaller air conditioners can pay for the cost of Spray Foam insulation!

Do I need to vent my attic?
No, with Spray Foam insulation attics are designed without venting. On existing homes we will seal attic vents. Traditional attic and crawlspace venting allows hot humid outside air to saturate your attic and insulation (Providing ideal conditions for mold & mildew). Unvented Spray Foam attics keep Hot, Humid air outside sealing your building envelope. This is not traditional, but most Architects & Builders see the advantages and building codes have changed to delete venting with Spray Foam.
